Fatal crash at NAIA Terminal 1: lives lost and shockwaves felt

On Sunday, May 4, a regular afternoon at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 took a devastating turn. Travellers were checking in and saying their goodbyes when a black SUV suddenly crashed through the glass doors of the terminal’s departure area. The vehicle, driven by 40-year-old Leo Sinlao Gonzales, went out of control and slammed straight into a group of people standing near the entrance.

The crash claimed the lives of two individuals and left others injured. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and those who were hurt were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. As of writing, the names of the fatalities have not been released, out of respect for the victims' families.
