ICYMI: The Philippines Is No Longer Using Arrival Stickers in Airports

Heads up, Filipino travel bugs! The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has a new policy for your upcoming balikbayan trips. As of 1 Apr 2024, those nostalgic arrival stickers you collect as travel mementos is no longer issued when entering the Philippines through electronic gates (e-gates).

The BI aims to streamline the e-gate process, making your arrival experience smoother and faster. This move also aligns with the Philippines’ transition to a more digital and efficient border clearance system, similar to those already in place in countries like Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

While the familiar arrival stickers is a thing of the past, fret not! Instead of the sticker, you’ll receive an email confirmation of your arrival directly to the address you provided in the e-Travel system. The digital confirmation serves as official documentation of your entry into the Philippines.

If you’re one of those travellers who cherish physical keepsakes, you can still request a traditional arrival stamp on your passport at the manual immigration lanes. Simply approach an immigration officer and they’ll be happy to provide you with a tangible reminder of your homecoming.

The BI’s move towards digital arrival confirmations reflects the Philippines’ evolving approach to border security and immigration services. By adapting more efficient and contactless procedures, the BI is working to create a more streamlined travel experience for everyone.
