Following the Philippine government’s decision to place NCR under general community quarantine (GCQ) starting 1 June 2020, Philippine Airlines announced that the country’s flag carrier will be ready to resume commercial operations by June. This was announced on 29 May, in a public post on the airline’s official Facebook page.
“PAL is closely coordinating with local and national government authorities on the necessary implementing rules and arrangements to finalize our routes and flight schedules,” the airline said in a public statement.
On 30 May, Philippine Airlines released a list of routes they would be operating from 1 June. These include selected international, sweeper, and domestic flights.
PAL will operate limited international flights to the USA, Canada, Guam, Vietnam, mainland China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Japan, the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia; and sweeper flights to Australia, Singapore, and the UK.
The airline will also have sweeper flights to Singapore, London, Sydney, and Nagoya, in order to repatriate those who have been stranded due to COVID-19.
Domestic flights to and from NAIA and occasionally from other PH airports. As of writing, these include local flights to and from Basco, Laoag, Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Busuanga, Bacolod, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Kalibo, Caticlan, Roxas, Tacloban, Panglao, Butuan, Cotabato, Cagayan de Oro, Dipolog, Davao, General Santos, Ozamiz, Pagadian, and Zamboanga.
