ICYMI: Philippines Introduces New Single E-Travel Code

Great news for frequent flyers and jetsetters! The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has implemented a brand new Philippines single e-Travel code system that streamlines the travel clearance process for international passengers. This means no more juggling multiple QR codes and a smoother experience at the airport.

What you need to know about the system

Previously, travellers had to contend with separate QR codes for immigration, quarantine, and customs. The new system eliminates this hassle by providing a single e-Travel QR code that encompasses all your declaration requirements. This translates to less confusion and a faster journey through the airport.

Here’s what you need to do to take advantage of this new system: Within 72 hours of your arrival or departure, you’ll need to fill out two online forms: the electronic Customs Baggage Declaration Form (e-CBDF) and the electronic Currencies Declaration Form (e-CDF). You can conveniently complete these forms on the official e-Travel website or by downloading the eGovPH mobile app.

Once you’ve landed (or are about to depart), the process gets even simpler. Upon arrival or before departure,  simply present your passport to the immigration officer for e-Travel registration confirmation. Then, show your single QR code to the Customs officer for clearance.

Keep these things in mind

Travelling with a significant amount of cash? Remember to declare any amount exceeding $10,000 (₱578,685) or ₱50,000 ($864) in foreign or local currency, respectively, within the e-CDF form. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) only authorises the transfer of local currency exceeding the limit for specific reasons like calibrating money-counting machines or for numismatic collections. Be sure to declare the full amount if you exceed the limits, as failure to do so could result in confiscation by Customs authorities.
