5-Year Multiple-Entry UAE Tourist Visa Now Open to Pinoys!

Pinoys, rejoice: Gone are the days that we had to renew our s with every visit, thanks to the new five-year multiple-entry visa!

The announcement was made on Monday, 6 Jan 2020 after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Cabinet updated its tourist visa policies to increase tourist arrivals in the Gulf state and bolster economic growth in its travel and tourism industries.

The new multiple-entry was extended to all nationalities. In doing so, the UAE government plans to cement itself as a global tourism hub and destination in the next 50 years. Currently, the country receives around 21 million tourists annually.

“The year 2020 will be different because it is the year of preparation for the next 50, the year in which we design the future of the Emirates,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Prime Minister of the Emirates, on Twitter.

Then & now: for Filipinos

Before the new five-year multiple-entry was approved, Filipino passport holders were only granted single-entry visas to the UAE, with a maximum stay of 90 days. Upon exiting the Gulf state, Filipinos would then have to apply for another visa with every visit.

Now, Pinoys with the new may enter the country multiple times within five years, as long as their visas are still valid and as long as they do not exceed the maximum number of days allowed per trip.

Although it has been confirmed that there have been proposals to extend the maximum number of days per stay from 90 days to six months at a time, the UAE government still has to make an official announcement on the matter.

How to apply for the new multiple-entry tourist visa to UAE

While news of the updated five-year multiple-entry is a win for all travellers, this is especially good news for Filipinos working in the Gulf state. This will allow their loved ones to visit them more often, with less paperwork.

The validity of the new visa to UAE may have been updated, but eligibility and visa application requirements remain the same, the UAE government confirmed.

Here are the simple steps to apply physically for a tourist visa to UAE:

  1. Complete all requirements. You may contact the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Manila for the complete list. Click here to learn how you can reach their office.
  2. Submit requirements to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Manila upon completion.
  3. Wait for the office to update you on your visa status; waiting time usually takes two to seven working days.

Alternatively, you can also submit your visa requirements through accredited airlines such as Emirates and Etihad Airways if you choose to fly with them. They will readily guide you through all requirements and processes as well.
