Celebrating the 10th year since the opening of its Manila Office, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), together with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC), is having the two-day event entitled 2022 Korean Festival at the Glorietta Activity Center and Palm Drive Activity Center, Makati City on 10–11 Sep 2022.
What to expect from the 2022 Korean Festival
The 2022 Korean Festival is expected to showcase the past and present Korean culture. It also aims to increase the interest of Filipinos in experiencing Korea through a grand Korean travel fair. This is the first time that the Embassy, KTO and KCC will be celebrating Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving) together.
Presenting a collaboration of all-things Korean, the Embassy, KTO and KCC invite all Korean culture and tourism lovers to visit and enjoy the activities prepared during the two-day event. Highlighting Korea’s rich tradition, history, and culture, the 2022 Korean Festival offers activities including:
- Wearing hanbok (traditional Korean clothing)
- Playing traditional Korean games (ddakji, dalgona candy, and jegichagi)
- Learning hangeul (Korean calligraphy)
Since it is also Chuseok in Korea, attendees will also have the opportunity to make and taste songpyeon (half-moon-shaped rice cake). In Korea, having songpyeon is a must during Chuseok season.
Meanwhile, attendees can also experience busking and picnicking, as if in the streets of Hongdae or riverbanks of the Han River.

Filipinos travelling to South Korea
South Korea started welcoming Filipino tourists on 1 Jun 2022. From then until August, the country has recorded over a 60% increase in Filipino tourist arrivals compared to last year’s numbers.
To reignite the interests of Filipinos and make Korea their first international destination after the pandemic, KTO is partnering with seven (7) airlines and five (5) local travel agencies to offer special promo fares and instalment deals just for this weekend’s Korea Travel Fair. These seven airlines include Korean Air, Jeju Air, Asiana Airlines, Fly Gangwon, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia.
Meanwhile, partner travel agencies will offer flexible payment terms and instalment options available to BPI credit and debit card holders. These include Ark Travel Express, Horizon Travel & Tours, Pan Pacific Travel Corporation, Rakso Air Travel & Tours, and Travel Specialist Ventures.
As a bonus, visitors who purchase within the promotion period from any participating partners may redeem special gifts from KTO.
