Apple Pay has finally arrived in the Philippines, giving iPhone and Apple Watch users a new way to make cashless payments at home and abroad.
After years of waiting, Filipino users can now add supported Philippine issued cards to Apple Wallet and use Apple Pay for contactless transactions. The official launch means users no longer need to rely only on physical cards when making payments, as compatible devices can now be used for quick and secure tap to pay transactions.
At launch, Apple Pay support is available for selected banks, including UnionBank, Metrobank, Chinabank, and GoTyme Bank. More banks and eligible cards may be added in the future as Apple Pay continues to expand in the Philippines.

Apple Pay is Apple’s digital payment service that allows users to make secure contactless payments using supported Apple devices, including iPhones and Apple Watches.
Instead of carrying a physical debit or credit card, users can add their eligible cards to the Apple Wallet app. Once set up, they can simply hold their device near a contactless payment terminal to complete a transaction.
For Filipinos who are already used to cashless payments through mobile banking apps and digital wallets, Apple Pay adds another convenient option for everyday spending.
Whether you are buying coffee, paying for meals, shopping, or making other purchases, having your card stored securely on your Apple device means fewer things to carry around.

The launch of Apple Pay in the Philippines is also exciting news for frequent travellers.
Many popular destinations among Filipino travellers already support contactless payments, including Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Australia. With Apple Pay, travellers can enjoy a more convenient payment experience by using their iPhones or Apple Watches instead of bringing multiple physical cards.
This can be especially helpful when navigating busy airports, taking public transport, shopping overseas, or paying at restaurants while travelling.
For example, a traveller exploring Tokyo could use Apple Pay for eligible purchases at supported terminals, making transactions faster without needing to constantly take out a wallet or exchange cash.
Setting up Apple Pay is simple. Users can open the Apple Wallet app on their iPhone, tap the add card option, and follow the instructions to add a supported debit or credit card.
After verification from the bank, the card can be used for contactless payments wherever Apple Pay is accepted.
Users should also make sure that their iPhone or Apple Watch software is updated and that their card is from a participating bank.

At launch, Apple Pay supports selected cards from:
• UnionBank
• Metrobank
• Chinabank
• GoTyme Bank
More Philippine banks may join the service in the future, giving more users access to Apple Pay.
The arrival of Apple Pay in the Philippines marks another step towards more convenient and digital payments for Filipinos.
For Apple users, the feature makes everyday transactions easier while also improving the travel experience when visiting destinations where contactless payments are widely accepted.
As more banks and businesses support Apple Pay, Filipinos can expect even more options for paying with their devices in the future.
