What if your next international trip came with extra spending money?
Taiwan is currently running a tourism campaign that could give eligible travellers up to NT$8,000 in spending credit. Think more night-market runs, another day trip, extra shopping money, or simply more room in your budget to enjoy the trip.
So, how do you get it?
We’ll get to that. First, there’s another way to stretch your Taiwan budget before you even fly.
More savings = more Taiwan spending money.
Save up to PHP 700 on eligible Taiwan bookings with KKDay, so you can keep more pocket money for food, shopping and day trips.

Been dreaming of Japan or South Korea but still haven’t taken that first East Asia trip? Taiwan is worth looking at first.
For starters, Filipino passport holders can currently visit Taiwan visa-free for up to 14 days until 31 July 2027. That removes one of the biggest hurdles when planning an international holiday, although you should always check the latest entry requirements before travelling.
Once you arrive, getting around is relatively straightforward too. Taipei’s MRT covers much of the city, while trains, buses and high-speed rail make it possible to explore beyond the capital without renting a car.
Taiwan can also work across different budgets. Use public transport, eat at local shops and night markets, then spend more on the activities you actually care about.
Solo trip? Couple getaway? Family holiday? Barkada trip? Taiwan works for all of them, which is exactly the kind of traveller mix the KKday x Taiwan Tourism Administration campaign is trying to reach.
And yes, we still owe you the answer about that NT$8,000. Keep going.

Quite a lot, honestly!
Taipei alone gives you temples, shopping streets, cafés, museums and night markets, but staying only in the capital means missing much of what makes Taiwan worth exploring.
You can wander the old streets of Jiufen, head to Shifen, soak in the hot springs of Beitou, explore coastal scenery, or travel farther for mountain towns and forest escapes.
Then there’s the food.
Beef noodles, xiao long bao, braised pork rice, scallion pancakes, fried chicken, pineapple cakes and bubble tea are only the beginning. You could easily build an entire Taiwan itinerary around what you want to eat next.
That mix of food, culture, wellness, nature and shared experiences is central to KKday and TTA’s “Taiwan 100 Ways” campaign, which is designed to show travellers that Taiwan offers much more than traditional sightseeing.
And you don’t have to work out every part of the trip yourself. KKday lets you browse and book Taiwan activities, attractions, day trips and transport before departure, so something like combining several stops outside Taipei becomes much easier to plan.

Want to go farther? Taiwan’s rail network also makes places such as Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung realistic additions to a longer trip.
There really are many ways to do Taiwan. Food trip this time, hot springs and mountains next time.
Which brings us back to that travel reward... but first, let’s talk budget.

You don’t need to treat every day like a splurge.
A few simple choices can keep your costs under control:
Stay near an MRT or train station. The cheapest room isn’t always the best deal if you keep paying for taxis.
Eat local. Night markets, food courts and small restaurants can help balance out pricier meals.
Use public transport. Save organised tours for days when they genuinely make getting around easier.
Pre-book your bigger activities. Pay for attractions and day trips before flying so more of your on-ground budget stays as actual pocket money.
It’s also worth setting aside a separate amount for food, shopping and spontaneous plans. Taiwan is exactly the kind of place where “I’m just going to look around this night market” can turn into five snacks and a bag of souvenirs.
Before we finally explain the NT$8,000, here’s one more chance to make that budget go further.

Here’s how it works.
Taiwan’s Return to Taiwan, Double Your Luck programme is aimed mainly at international travellers who have already visited Taiwan.
To qualify for the NT$5,000 Repeat Visitor Prize, you need to have a valid Taiwan entry record between 1 Jan 2023 and the day before registering. You must also be travelling independently, stay for three to 90 days, and register seven to 90 days before arrival.
Each eligible repeat visitor can register one accompanying friend or relative who has not visited Taiwan during that qualifying period. If the repeat visitor wins, they receive NT$5,000 in spending credit, while the eligible companion receives another NT$3,000.
That’s NT$8,000 in total for two travellers.
Registration opens on 1 Oct 2026 for travellers arriving in Taiwan from 10 Oct 2026 onwards. Draws are held weekly, and the campaign runs until 31 Mar 2027 or until the allocated budget is exhausted.
The reward isn’t physical cash. Winners receive spending credit through an electronic stored-value card such as EasyCard, iPASS or icash.
Even if you don’t qualify for the NT$5,000 repeat-visitor draw this time, Taiwan is still a pretty easy place to say yes to.
It’s visa-free for Filipinos for now, simple to get around, and there’s enough to do that a short trip can easily turn into a list of places you want to come back for.
And maybe that’s the point. Your first Taiwan trip doesn’t have to cover everything. It just has to be good enough to make you want another one.
