If you have ever dreamed of living in Australia, now is a good time to take a closer look. The Australian government has announced its permanent migration program for 2025–26, keeping the total intake steady at 185,000 places, the same as last year. This update is particularly important for Filipino travellers who are thinking about long-term relocation for work, family, or innovation opportunities.

The Skill Stream continues to be the core of Australia’s migration plan, with 132,200 places available, making up around 71 percent of the total intake. This stream targets professionals in sectors that are in high demand such as technology, healthcare, engineering, and other essential industries. For skilled Filipino workers, this represents a great chance to secure a permanent move to Australia while contributing to its workforce.
Australia is also prioritising family reunification, with 52,500 places set aside under the Family Stream. This includes visas for partners, children, and other relatives who wish to join family members already living in Australia. For Filipino travellers who have relatives in the country, this provides a practical pathway for permanent migration.

A new highlight in the 2025–26 program is the Talent and Innovation visa, offering 4,300 places. This visa combines the previous Global Talent, Distinguished Talent, and National Innovation visas into a simpler option. It is designed for professionals who can bring exceptional skills, research expertise, or innovative solutions to Australia. Highly skilled Filipino applicants may find this visa particularly appealing.
Although this program does not cover short-term tourist visas, it is highly relevant for those considering permanent migration. Whether you are a skilled worker, a professional with unique talent, or planning to reunite with family members, Australia is maintaining opportunities for permanent residency. The steady intake and introduction of the Talent and Innovation visa show that the country is focused on attracting individuals who can support economic growth while keeping families connected.
