At around 6.30am on 10 Jan 2021, Baguio City recorded one of its chilliest mornings of that year at 10.4°C. Fast forward to January 2024, and the “City of Pines” once again reminded everyone why it’s the country’s summer capital, when temperatures dropped to 9.8°C. As January and February are typically the coldest months of the year, visitors can always look forward to extra-chilly mornings in Baguio during this season.

Baguio’s coldest ever was 6.3°C, recorded in January 1961 — and while that record hasn’t been broken in decades, recent years have still seen strikingly cold mornings.
2019 – Temperatures dropped to 9.4°C.
2020 – The city reached a low of 10.2°C.
2021 – The year opened with 10.4°C on 10 January.
2024 – PAGASA logged 9.8°C on 27 January, making it colder than the previous few years. (updated)
These numbers prove that Baguio continues to offer crisp, sweater-weather days that make it the go-to destination for those craving a cool escape.
If you’ve been longing for that out-of-the-country vibe without leaving Luzon, a trip to Baguio during the Amihan season is your best bet. Bundling up for sunrise views at Mines View Park, sipping hot chocolate along Session Road, or simply enjoying the misty pine-filled mornings makes the experience feel worlds away from city life.
Before you head off, don’t forget to check updated travel guidelines and pack accordingly. With mornings dipping below 10°C, layering is your best friend — and a warm cup of coffee (or strawberry taho) completes the experience.
