Prepare to be mesmerised by this island’s one-of-a-kind charm!
You’ve booked the flight, paid for the hotel, and probably already saved 20 restaurants on TikTok. Then comes the less exciting question: do you actually need travel insurance?
For most trips, travel insurance is one of those things you hope you never have to use. But a cancelled flight, missing suitcase or unexpected hospital visit abroad can quickly turn a cheap holiday into a very expensive one.
The harder part is choosing a plan. Search for the best travel insurance in the Philippines, and you’ll find plenty of companies offering different benefits, limits, and plan types. There isn’t one option that is automatically best for everyone. The right choice depends on where you’re going, how often you travel, and what you’re most worried about.
Here are seven travel insurance options in the Philippines worth comparing in 2026.

If another overseas trip always seems to appear on your calendar, AXA Smart Traveller is one worth checking.
AXA offers both Single Trip and Annual Multi-Trip options. In fact, AXA specifically recommends its Annual Multi-Trip Plan to travellers expecting to make five or more trips within the year. Annual plans allow multiple journeys during the policy period, with each trip covered for up to 92 consecutive days.
Depending on the plan, Smart Traveller can cover medical treatment, trip cancellation, travel delays, lost baggage, and lost travel documents. AXA also offers 24/7 travel assistance and advertises up to ₱3.5 million in medical coverage each for sickness and accidents abroad. Its Classic and Elite plans can also meet Schengen travel insurance requirements.
If you already know you’ll be flying out several times this year, the annual plan is probably the part worth comparing against buying insurance trip by trip.

Medical bills are probably not the first thing on your mind when planning Seoul, Tokyo or Europe, but they can become one of the highest costs if something goes wrong.
Pacific Cross Travelsafe offers travel plans covering domestic, international and Schengen trips, with options for individuals, families and groups. Its plans include medical treatment benefits, travel inconvenience coverage and 24/7 emergency assistance. Some plans also offer cashless medical treatment.
Pacific Cross offers separate options for worldwide travel, Asia and Oceania, domestic trips, and Schengen travel, making it worth comparing if medical protection is one of your main priorities.
Its domestic plans, for example, can provide medical treatment benefits of up to ₱2.5 million depending on the plan selected.
If medical expenses abroad are your biggest worry, this is one of the plans worth looking at more closely when comparing coverage limits.

Your flight gets delayed. Your connection disappears. Your luggage decides to take its own holiday.
This is where Standard Insurance Travel Protect becomes interesting.
Travel Protect covers a wide mix of common travel problems, including medical emergencies, trip cancellations, delayed departures, missed connections, baggage delays, and lost or damaged baggage. Standard Insurance also offers emergency medical evacuation and repatriation benefits.
The exact limits depend on which plan you buy, so it is worth comparing the different levels before paying. Its international plans also include options designed to meet travel insurance requirements for destinations such as the Schengen area.
It’s especially relevant if the travel problems you worry about most happen before you even reach your destination, from long delays to missing baggage.

Getting sick abroad is already stressful. Trying to figure out which hospital to visit in a country where you barely speak the language makes it worse.
Chubb Travel Insurance combines insurance coverage with access to its international assistance network. Policyholders can get 24-hour support and medical referrals if they become sick or injured overseas.
Its travel plans can cover necessary medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation, trip delays or cancellations, baggage delays, and personal accidents. Chubb also offers Single Trip and Annual Plans for both domestic and international travel.
That makes it worth considering if having someone to contact during an overseas emergency matters just as much to you as the financial coverage itself.
The 24-hour assistance element may also matter if you’re travelling somewhere unfamiliar and want someone you can contact when things go wrong.

Not every insured trip needs to involve immigration.
FPG MyTravel Mate has separate options for travelling around the Philippines and going overseas, making it useful for travellers who switch between local getaways and international holidays.
Its international product includes benefits for medical emergencies, medical evacuation, trip delays, cancellations, missed connecting flights, baggage problems and lost travel documents. It also offers annual multi-trip coverage for frequent travellers and family plans.
There is also some flexibility in how international coverage is built. FPG lists optional or customisable benefits covering areas such as gadgets, car rental excess, hazardous non-professional sports, sports equipment, cruise trips and even additional pet-care costs in certain situations.
The mix of domestic, international and optional benefits also makes it useful for travellers whose trips don’t always look the same.

Travel insurance isn't only for your two-week Europe holiday. Even a quick Cebu, Boracay, or Siargao trip can come with delayed flights and missing luggage.
Etiqa Travel Insurance covers domestic and international travel and currently offers both round-trip and Annual Multi-Trip options. Its website advertises domestic protection starting from ₱136, with coverage of up to ₱100,000 for eligible domestic trips depending on the plan selected.
Its benefits can include flight delays, trip cancellations, missed connections, baggage delays or loss, medical and hospital expenses, emergency evacuation and loss of travel documents.
For travellers who want to insure shorter local trips as well as overseas holidays, it gives you another accessible option to compare.
For quick local holidays or lower-cost trips, the domestic option gives travellers another plan to compare without automatically paying for international-level coverage.

Start with your actual trip instead of simply picking the cheapest policy. A weekend in Cebu, a ski trip to Japan and a two-week Schengen holiday come with very different risks. Check the medical coverage limit, whether your destination is included, what counts as a covered delay or cancellation, baggage limits, and whether activities such as skiing, diving, or other adventure sports need extra coverage. If you travel several times a year, compare the cost of individual policies against an annual multi-trip plan. Most importantly, read the exclusions before buying. The cheapest travel insurance in the Philippines isn't necessarily the best value if the things you are most worried about aren't covered.
Travellers will also have a chance to recognise the companies they trust through the TripZilla Excellence Awards 2026, now in its 12th edition. The awards recognise travel companies across categories including online travel services, with winners chosen through public voting. If there is an insurer or travel company that has consistently made your trips easier, you can nominate your favourite travel companies for the TripZilla Excellence Awards 2026.
Finding the best travel insurance in the Philippines in 2026 ultimately comes down to your destination, travel frequency, budget and the kind of problems you want protection from. Whether you are comparing AXA Smart Traveller, Pacific Cross Travelsafe, Standard Insurance Travel Protect, Chubb Travel Insurance, FPG MyTravel Mate or Etiqa, take a few minutes to compare medical coverage, flight delay benefits, baggage protection, trip cancellation rules and annual versus single-trip plans before your next holiday. Travel insurance may be the least exciting part of planning a trip, but when something goes wrong, it can quickly become one of the most important.
