We all know BGC is the busiest and most vibrant part of Metro Manila, a place where business, dining, and leisure intersect. Now, the city is set for a major refresh. The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has teamed up with SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.) to update BGC’s master development plan, aiming to improve mobility, open spaces, and the overall experience for everyone who lives, works, or visits the area.
The current master plan has been in place for over 20 years, and traffic congestion, limited open spaces, and infrastructure challenges are becoming more noticeable as the city grows. To address this, BCDA and SGV & Co. launched a nine-month study and consultation process in January 2026, expected to finish by September. This involves data-driven urban analysis, workshops, and discussions with city stakeholders, ensuring the new plan is practical and future-ready.
The budget for this planning work is ₱49.6 million, covering consultancy services, research, and workshops, including all taxes and fees. This only covers the planning stage, not construction. Future projects like new roads, open spaces, or public infrastructure will require separate, larger budgets.

For travellers, the refreshed master plan promises a BGC that is more people-friendly, with improved mobility, better access to transport, and more open spaces where visitors can relax, stroll, or take photos. The city also plans to link key areas with transit systems, making it easier to explore without worrying about traffic.
BCDA CEO Joshua M. Bingcang highlights that the goal is a city that feels open, accessible, and welcoming, not just a business hub. Once implemented, the plan will support long-term investments, create jobs, and improve daily life for residents and travellers alike.
For Filipino travellers looking for their next urban adventure, BGC is preparing to become smarter, more navigable, and even more enjoyable.
