Calling out all mixed martial arts (MMA) fanatics! Filipino-American heavyweight champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera is going live for his local fans this month, and we see absolutely no reason for you to miss it.
Organised by Pretty Huge Obstacles (PHO), Asia’s first multi-level obstacle course training facility, the Brandon Vera livestream will take place on 18 Jun 2020 at the official PHO Facebook page. With the title Overcoming Obstacles by Brandon “The Truth” Vera Livestream, it will be a chance for Pinoys to know more about Vera’s obstacles of his own and learn from them.
Born and raised in Virginia, USA, Vera has been actively competing in kickboxing, grappling, and mixed martial arts since 2002. In 2005, he made his debut at the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) in California, where he beat Andre Mussi. Just a few months later, he joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in Nevada knocking out Fabiano Scherner.
By 2014, Vera entered the ONE Fighting Championship: Warrior’s Way in the Philippines in a battle against Igor Subora, which he also won. From then on, he has distinguished himself as one of the most refined mixed martial artists the world has ever seen. Amidst his success, he relocated to the Philippines to share and promote his craft to fellow Filipinos.
Having gone through medical, personal, and professional challenges, his life obstacles couldn’t be any more different from those he’d often take on in the arena — from going through surgery for his torn ligaments and just recently, losing the bid to become a ONE two-division champion to light heavyweight veteran Aung La N Sang.

This coming Thursday, Vera bares all as he stars in a PHO livestream event hosted by CNN Philippines’ Charles Tiu, one of the Philippines’ sought-after basketball coaches and a renowned Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) analyst.
At the 60-minute online event that will start at 7pm, Vera will be talking about his obstacles and how he managed to overcome them. He’ll also be answering fan questions submitted via PHO’s Instagram and Facebook pages. What’s more, viewers of the livestream can win prizes through three different contests. Here’s how you can join:
Contest 1: Join PHO’s online classes, show your proof of purchase, and get a chance to win a private video chat with Vera.
Contest 2: Simply sign up for the livestream event, show your proof of participation, and get a chance to win Brandon Vera collectable items and more.
Contest 3: Share the event’s social media announcements, watch the livestream, and get a chance to win VIP tickets to ONE Championship’s next event.
As mass gathering restrictions in the country continue, this is the closest every MMA fan will get to support their idols. And for all you Brandon “The Truth” Vera followers, this is definitely an opportunity you wouldn’t want to miss!
