But before we continue, let’s get one thing straight: the cherry blossom trees in Taguig are not the exact trees that grow in Japan. Rather, these are pink trumpet trees that share the same colour as their Japanese counterparts. The main difference is that trumpet trees can withstand tropical climates better.

An easy way to tell cherry trees apart from trumpet trees is by their flowers. As the name suggests, the trumpet tree would have elongated flowers, like the brass instrument! Trumpet tree flowers also have a purple and pink hue while cherry blossom flowers remain consistent when in full bloom.

Where to find the tropical Sakura

Itching to drive by the cherry blossom trees in Taguig? Head over to the Laguna Lake Highway or C6 Road. Taguig’s city government planted the trees way back in 2015 on the road islands of the highway stretch. Today, they are in full bloom and are a captivating sight for drivers and passers-by.

It is an especially fruitful time to pass by the road from January to April. The trees will be in full bloom by this time, with the foliage shedding by late April.
