Travel between Hong Kong to Shenzhen just became faster and more convenient with the opening of the southern section of Shenzhen Metro Line 13. Officially launched on 28 Dec 2024, this metro line links Shenzhen Bay Port Station to Gaoxinzhong Station, offering a seamless connection for commuters and tourists.

The 22.4-kilometer route is a milestone in cross-border transport, with 16 intermediate stations planned. In its initial phase, seven stations are operational, running daily from 6:30 am to 11 pm. The line serves as a vital link between Nanshan District and the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, which acts as a gateway between Hong Kong and mainland China.
Operated by the MTR Corporation in collaboration with local partners, this fully automated metro line boasts user-friendly features. Uniformed staff stationed throughout the metro ensure smooth operations, while clear signage makes navigation a breeze for travelers. After crossing the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, passengers can take a short walk to the metro station to access key locations in mainland China, such as Luo Hu, Futian, and Bao’an.
Travelers can enjoy this convenient service for an affordable fare of ₱23.83, making it a budget-friendly option for cross-border travel. The metro line’s launch was celebrated with great enthusiasm, as visitors gathered at the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint to witness the first train's departure at 10 am.
Beyond the metro, Shenzhen remains a top destination for tourists. Known for its blend of modernity and cultural heritage, the city offers an array of attractions, including Lianhuashan Park, Window of the World, Dafen Oil Painting Village, and Shenzhen Bay Park. From shopping hubs to amusement parks, gardens, and historical landmarks, Shenzhen caters to all kinds of travelers.
This new metro line doesn’t just enhance connectivity—it represents a step forward in fostering closer ties between Hong Kong and mainland China. Whether you're commuting for business or exploring Shenzhen’s vibrant attractions, Metro Line 13 promises a smooth, efficient, and affordable journey.
