During my foray into online banking, I encountered a number of bumps on the road. Despite it being called online banking, I had to head to my bank’s nearest ATM to activate my account. Meanwhile, an e-wallet of mine offered a debit card for a small fee — but each ATM transaction came with additional charges.
But just when I’d given up on finding a digital bank that does it all, I learned that ING Pay not only offers a free debit card, but free withdrawals at BancNet ATMs, too!
Setting up your ING Pay account
If you already have a savings account with ING Philippines — a 100% digital bank regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas — then all you’ll need to do is set up your ING Pay account. In a nutshell, it’s where you’re meant to set aside funds specifically for spending. This particular digital bank account allows you to enjoy free interbank transfers and bills payments, among other perks we’re about to discuss.
Once you’ve fully verified your ING Pay account, you are automatically granted a free virtual card. It comes with a card number, CVV, and expiry date; and yes, you’re welcome to use it for online transactions with merchants that cater to Visa payments!
How to get your free ING Pay debit card
What’s more, having a fully verified ING Pay account also entitles you to a free ING debit card. With this physical card, you’ll be able to withdraw funds from any local BancNet ATM — without any fees! You may also use it for international withdrawals at Visa ATMs, as well as online, in-store, and over-the-phone transactions that accept Visa payments.
Looking to get your own ING Pay debit card? All you have to do is follow a few simple steps! But first, be reminded that you’ll have to download the most updated version of the ING app, as well as have a fully verified ING Pay account.
Once you’ve taken care of those important matters, here’s all that’s left to do:
- Log in to your ING app.
- Click the card icon.
- Swipe left over “Virtual Card,” then tap “Get an ING Pay Debit Card.”
- Confirm your address, and tap “Send Me My Debit Card.”
For Metro Manila addresses, delivery will take 7 to 10 working days; meanwhile, those with provincial addresses may take a little longer. Fret not, though — your card will be delivered to your doorstep, free of charge!
Moreover, I was pleasantly surprised to receive my ING Pay debit card in such beautiful packaging! Each card is packed in a sturdy white box and comes with a free cardholder, plus instructions on how to activate your debit card.
