If you’re planning a trip to South Korea, there’s an important update to the visa application process that you need to know. Starting January 1, 2025, the Korea Visa Application Center Philippines (KVAC) will officially discontinue its online advance reservation system. This change will bring a new set of procedures for travelers seeking to secure a Korean visa.

Under the updated policy, applicants will no longer be able to book visa application appointments online. Instead, KVAC has announced three alternative methods for submitting visa requirements:
Mail-in applications through WExpress.
Accredited travel agencies officially recognized by KVAC and the South Korean Embassy.
Walk-in applications directly at the Korea Visa Application Center.
KVAC also issued a reminder to only transact with official travel agencies that are recognized by both the KVAC and the South Korean Embassy to avoid scams or delays. A full list of these accredited agencies is available on the KVAC website for easy reference.
While the KVAC has not provided specific reasons for phasing out the online reservation system, they emphasized their commitment to delivering excellent service during this transition period. Travelers are encouraged to prepare early and familiarize themselves with the new procedures to ensure a smooth application process.
These changes are expected to affect thousands of Filipino tourists who travel to South Korea every year, especially as interest in the country continues to grow due to its pop culture, historical landmarks, and vibrant food scene.
