Meet Ivan and Kim, the Couple Behind the Viral ‘Mala-Teleseryeng’ Prenup Shoot

Filipino couples have always come up with creative ways to share their love stories on social media, and looking back, some of the most memorable ones are the ones that make us laugh, gasp, or tear up. From epic proposals to over-the-top prenup shoots, these stories never fail to capture our attention.

One couple that stood out in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day a few years ago was Ivan Ponayo and Kim Roldan. Their unique prenup shoot, posted on 11 February 2021, went viral, gaining over 65,000 shares on Facebook thanks to its hilarious storyline inspired by local teleseryes, complete with its own dramatic twists.

Their mala-teleseryeng prenup shoot in a nutshell

Like many Filipino soap operas, Ivan and Kim’s staged story started with two people from completely different backgrounds meeting under unusual circumstances.

Ivan, who grew up being bullied, had been selling street snacks in the province to support his family. Kim, on the other hand, grew up in Metro Manila and had been earning millions from selling face shields. One day, while driving, Kim noticed Ivan walking along the road looking for customers.

Mesmerised by Ivan’s charm, Kim bought a small snack but offered a ₱1,000 bill, just so she could accompany him to change the money and spend more time with him.

Eventually, Kim invited Ivan to join her at a networking event, which turned out to be a surprise “makeover” for him. The staged story culminated in a proposal, and later, the couple tied the knot on 14 February 2021.

Behind the scenes in Bicol

The “real” Ivan and Kim are both based in Camarines Norte, where the entire shoot took place. Some of the scenes were inspired by their actual interests and pastimes as a couple, like eating balut near Bagasbas Beach along Cory Aquino Boulevard, the country’s longest boulevard.

Ivan explained that the concept reflected their personalities. “Nasa personality na po kasi namin ang pagiging funny kaya naiisip namin na gawing nakakatawa ang prenup namin,” he told TripZilla. “Yung balut idea basta na lang namin naisip.”

The shoot was led by Artine Photography, a Daet-based company providing photography and videography services.

Looking back, the viral prenup is remembered as one of the most creative and humorous wedding shoots, showing that love, laughter, and a little bit of drama can make a story truly unforgettable.
