New Requirements for Multiple-Entry Japanese Visa 2024

If you’re planning multiple trips to Japan and aiming for a convenient multiple-entry Japanese visa, some changes are coming into effect starting 10 Jun 2024. This article focuses specifically on the updated requirements for those applying under the “considerably high-income individual” category.

The Japanese Embassy is now requiring more stringent documentation to qualify as a “considerably high-income applicant” for a multiple-entry visa. Here’s what you’ll need to provide:

• Bank Statement: A bank certificate showcasing your average daily balance for the past six months. If the bank certificate doesn’t explicitly show this average, you’ll need to submit full statements proving transactions within that period.
• Employment Proof: An official Employment Certificate from your company, detailing your salary, position, and duration of employment.
• Business Owners: A copy of your business’ DTI Certificate of Business Name Registration and a Mayor’s Permit from your local City Hall.
• Tax Documents: A Tax Payment Certificate (BIR Form 2316) with signatures from both you and your employer. Business owners will need additional proof of actual tax payments alongside the BIR certificate.

Can’t Provide These Documents?

If obtaining any of these financial documents proves challenging, fret not! You can still apply for a multiple-entry visa under other categories, such as being a frequent traveller to Japan or other G7 countries. Just be sure to also research the specific requirements for your chosen category and ensure you submit all the necessary paperwork.

General visa application requirements

Regardless of the category you fall under, some general documents are staples for any Japanese tourist visa application:

• Valid Philippine Passport
• Completed Visa Application Form with a recent photo
• Detailed Itinerary for your Japan trip
• PSA-issued Birth Certificate (if applicable)
• PSA-issued Marriage Certificate (if applicable, for married applicants)

Submitting all the required documents doesn’t guarantee a multiple-entry visa. The Japanese Embassy has the final say, and in some cases, a single-entry visa might be issued.
