Online shopping delivery pictures that made waves

While we can’t tell for sure how many of these shoppers have followed or has been following the trend, there’s a couple who recently caught social media users’ attention. One of them is John Carlo Ison, a former flight attendant based in Cavite, who posted his pictures on 13 Nov 2020.

Garnering over 70,000 reactions and 39,000 shares as of writing, the post shows Ison in a sleek maroon suit and sporting an expertly combed-over hair while posing with his parcel. It came with the quote, “Dressing well is a form of good manners,” by American fashion designer Tom Ford.

“Kada na lang ako may delivery lagi akong mukhang ewan,” he mentioned in the post. “Pero today di na ako makakapayag! Pag ka-receive ko ng text na may delivery ako today nag-ready talaga ko nang buong puso!

[I look strange every time I receive a delivery. But today, I didn’t let that happen! When I got a text that I had a new delivery, I made sure to prepare this time around.]

In an interview with TripZilla philippines, Ison said that the parcel in the photo contained a pair of basketball shoes. He also told us that he did all the styling himself. “Mahilig talaga ako emeksena,” he laughed.

[I just really like making a scene.] When asked if he would do it again, Ison gladly said yes. “Feeling ko baka nage-expect na yung mga magde-deliver dito sa bahay na lagi ako naka-outfit.” [I feel like other delivery men will now expect me to dress up when they go to my house.]

What this online shopping trend is about

In the Philippines, it’s a known practise among the online shopping community to have the parcel recipient’s photo taken as proof of delivery. Upon the arrival of their items, some just wear a face mask and receive them instantly. Then there are those who make the most out of the situation with fun pictorials, just like the above Filipino shoppers.
