For years, Jodd Fairs in Rama 9 was a go-to hangout spot for foodies, shoppers, and anyone looking to experience the lively vibe of Bangkok’s night markets. Recently, the market has officially shut down.
But what’s behind this closure? Well, it all comes down to a business decision: the lease agreement between the market operators, Rod’s & Son Company, and the property developer, G Land (owned by Central Pattana Corp.), expired. This marks the end of an era for Jodd Fairs in its original location, but it’s not the end of the story.

The good news for fans of Jodd Fairs is that the market didn’t just disappear—it moved! In November 2024, the brand-new Jodd Fairs Ratchada opened its doors to the public. Situated on Ratchadapisek Road, just a stone's throw away from the old site, this new venue promises to be even more exciting than the original. The location is super convenient too, as it’s right next to the Cultural Centre MRT station, making it easy to access no matter where you’re coming from in Bangkok.

You might be wondering—what’s so special about this new location? Well, for starters, Jodd Fairs Ratchada is massive! Spanning an impressive 2.08 hectares, it’s designed to be a major hotspot for both locals and tourists. With over 1,500 shops and restaurants, there’s more than enough to keep you busy as you wander through the market. Whether you’re after delicious Thai street food, quirky souvenirs, or unique fashion finds, there’s something for everyone here.
But it’s not just about the shopping and food (although, trust me, the food is amazing!). The new location is part of a bigger vision to make Jodd Fairs a top tourist attraction in Thailand, helping to boost the country's already booming tourism industry. So, not only will you get to enjoy the market, but you'll also be part of something that aims to put Thailand on the map as a must-visit destination.
As for the original Jodd Fairs location in Rama 9, it won’t remain empty for long. The site is set to be redeveloped by Central Group, which has big plans for the area. In fact, the old market space will soon make way for the construction of Thailand’s tallest building—the Super Tower. Standing at a staggering 125 stories, this towering structure will not only be the tallest in Thailand but also in Southeast Asia! While it’s sad to see Jodd Fairs go, the new development promises to be an exciting addition to Bangkok’s skyline.

If you’re planning to visit the new Jodd Fairs Ratchada, get ready for a whole new experience! The market retains the same lively spirit you loved at the old location but with plenty of upgrades. You’ll find a wider variety of food vendors, more fashion boutiques, and tons of other cool spots to explore. It’s also a great place to hang out with friends, soak in the atmosphere, and maybe even take a few Instagram-worthy photos (because who doesn’t love a good photo op?).
And if you’re worried about losing that cosy, intimate vibe of the original Jodd Fairs, don’t! The new location still maintains that laid-back, casual feel but on a much larger scale. Plus, the addition of new attractions and a more accessible location means it’ll continue to be a place where memories are made.
