Savage Ink International Tattoo Convention Brings Global Tattoo Culture to Cebu

Love tattoos? Looking for inkspiration? Ever wondered how different the Philippine tattoo scene is from other countries’? Spotlighting global tattoo culture is the very first Savage Ink International Tattoo Convention, a gathering of top tattoo talents at Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu City from 19 Oct to 20 Oct 2019.

The event aims to promote the spirit of community within the global tattoo scene by gathering local and international tattoo artists under one roof!

“We have long planned about making a globally competitive annual event that will de-stigmatise the reputation of this unique art form and to further inspire our Filipino artists to hone their craft. This event will not only encourage local and international artists to participate but to educate them to appreciate cultural diversity,” explained Rhome Yu of retail brand MacBeth, one of the organisers of Savage Ink International Tattoo Convention. Other organisers include World Tattoo Events and Balm Tattoo.

Ultimately, though, the brands behind Cebu’s biggest international tattoo convention strive to keep Savage Ink at par with more established counterparts abroad.

“Our involvement in different events from all of our travels widened our knowledge about setting international standards for us to meet the needs of our exhibitors, artists, participants, and spectators for this upcoming event,” Yu added.

Alyosha Robillos

In Russia, Alyosha is a boy's name popularised by literary greats Dostoevsky and Tolstoy—but this particular Alyosha is neither Russian nor a boy. She is a writer from the Philippines who loves exploring the world as much as she likes staying at home. Her life's mission is to pet every friendly critter there is. When she isn't busy doing that, she sniffs out stories and scribbles away on the backs of old receipts. She is an advocate of many things: culture and heritage, the environment, skincare and snacking, to name a few. She will work for lifetime supplies of french fries and coffee. Or yogurt. Or cheese, preferably Brie.
