Renowned for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and laid-back island atmosphere, Siargao has long been a favourite for surfers and beach goers alike. In 2023, it was ranked the 10th best island in Asia by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards, a testament to its growing international appeal. Popular spots like Cloud 9, famous for its barreling waves, Magpupungko Rock Pools, and Sugba Lagoon, make Siargao a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.
Agoda’s list comes at a perfect time for travellers looking to take advantage of the long weekends and holidays in August and September. The digital platform, which offers value deals on accommodations across 4.5 million properties worldwide, highlights Siargao as a top pick for budget-conscious travellers seeking unique experiences. Agoda’s Country Director for the Philippines, Mike Hwang, expressed enthusiasm about the list, emphasising that these destinations allow people to "see more of the world for less" and offer a variety of travel experiences.
While Siargao shines as a top destination, other affordable spots in Asia made Agoda’s list. These include Hat Yai in Thailand, a bustling city known for its markets and scenic parks; Yogyakarta in Indonesia, a cultural hub with must-visit temples like Borobudur and Prambanan; and Kuching in Malaysia, which boasts a mix of history, wildlife, and quirky attractions like the Cat Museum. Other destinations like Dalat in Vietnam, Narita in Japan, Goa in India, Taichung in Taiwan, and Busan in South Korea round out the top affordable spots, each offering a blend of cultural, historical, and natural wonders.
