Big news for the north, SM City Laoag is officially opening its doors on 30 May 2025. This brand new mall from SM Prime Holdings is the first of its kind in Ilocos Norte, and it is set to become a major destination in the region. You will find it along Airport Road in Laoag City, just a few minutes away from both the city centre and Laoag International Airport, which makes it easy to visit whether you are a local or just passing through on a road trip.
SM City Laoag will be the 88th mall under SM Prime in the Philippines and the fourth in the Ilocos Region. What makes this one extra exciting is its fresh design and local flair. Inspired by the natural beauty of Ilocos, the mall uses a biophilic concept that brings the outdoors inside. Expect a cool, airy vibe with lots of indoor greenery and soft lighting. The mall will have three levels and a massive 51,000 square metres of leasable space, most of which has already been taken up by shops and restaurants.

If you are wondering what shops and features to expect, SM City Laoag is bringing in all your favourites. That includes SM Supermarket, SM Store, and SM Cinema, perfect for everyday needs, some weekend shopping, or a movie night with friends.
Some cafes and food spots have already opened ahead of schedule. Starbucks welcomed customers as early as 30 April, and J.CO Donuts and Coffee opened on 24 May. More exciting food and lifestyle brands are expected to follow once the mall is fully open.

Aside from shopping and dining, the mall offers spaces designed for comfort and convenience. There is a roof deck car park, a transport terminal for commuters, and a relaxing green space called Dap-Ayan Park. Whether you are coming by car, tricycle, or public transport, it is designed to be easy to reach and explore.

SM City Laoag is not just a new place to hang out. It is also creating a major boost for the local economy. With the opening of this mall, around 4,000 jobs are expected to be generated, giving locals new work opportunities in retail, customer service, food, security, and more.

That is not all. SM Prime also has plans to build a hotel in Laoag, showing their confidence in the province’s growing tourism and events scene. With Ilocos Norte becoming more popular for road trips, beach holidays, and even business events, this move could turn the area into a stronger destination for both leisure and work.
SM City Laoag is not just a mall opening. It is a sign of what is next for northern Luzon. More lifestyle options, more local jobs, and more reasons to visit Ilocos Norte.
