When was the last time you travelled just to breathe? No packed itinerary. No pressure to see every tourist spot. Just pure escape. Sounds like a dream, right? You are not the only one craving that kind of break. According to Klook Philippines' latest 2025 Travel Pulse study, more Filipinos are now booking trips as a form of therapy.
Every Filipino surveyed in the study said travel helps them manage stress. Yes, all of them. Whether it is to take a breather from work, deal with burnout, or simply reconnect with themselves, travelling is now seen as a real form of self-care.
About 78 percent of respondents said they travel to take a mental break. Meanwhile, around 32 percent go on nature retreats to reset and find inspiration. Think peaceful beaches, forest cabins, or even quiet mountain stays. It is no longer just about sightseeing. It is about feeling better.
Short breaks are trending among Filipino travellers. Domestic hotel bookings have seen a huge 202 percent increase compared to last year. Most people are choosing short stays and booking closer to their travel dates. These trips are more spontaneous, which makes them feel more exciting and easier to plan.
What are Filipinos looking for in their stay? The basics, but better. Free breakfast, a nice pool, and a cosy place to unwind. These are the small comforts that make a big difference when you are using travel to relax.
Nearly all respondents, 98.5 percent to be exact, plan to travel within the Philippines this year. But international trips are still on the radar for many, especially to nearby Asian countries that are fun, vibrant, and affordable.
Vietnam, Taiwan, and Thailand are now top choices. They offer a mix of culture, food, and unique experiences. Plus, flights are fairly budget friendly. It is no surprise more Filipinos are choosing these places for their next overseas holiday.
Tech is also making travel easier. More than half of the respondents said they have used artificial intelligence to help plan their trips. Gen Z leads the way, with 64 percent using AI for travel planning, while Millennials are not far behind at 52 percent.
From creating personalised itineraries to finding the best deals online, AI tools are giving Filipino travellers a smarter and faster way to plan their next getaway.
Even though people come back from their trips feeling refreshed, many experience post travel sadness. According to the study, 92 percent of travellers deal with this emotional slump after their trip ends.
The solution? Plan the next one. Almost half of the respondents said they start looking for their next destination right away. Travel gives them something to look forward to, and that excitement helps keep the good vibes going.
Filipinos are no longer just travelling for holidays. Many now see travel as a powerful tool for mental wellness. It is about healing, reflection, and joy. Whether it is a quick weekend in Tagaytay, a quiet stay in Siargao, or a cultural adventure in Hanoi, travel helps people feel better, inside and out.
So if you are planning a trip soon, go for it. Your mind and heart deserve that break. And if anyone asks why you are off travelling again, just tell them the truth. It is therapy.
