On 24 Nov 2022, the Philippine Social Security System (SSS) announced that select members who applied for the generic UMID Card can apply for a free upgrade to a UMID ATM Pay Card. Made possible through its partnership with UnionBank Philippines, you can now have an ID and a debit all-in-one card. So, what are you waiting for? The Unified Multi-Purpose Identification Card (UMID Card) is one of the primary valid IDs in the Philippines which serves as a single card that Filipinos can use to transact with different government agencies. These agencies include the Philippine Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG Fund.
Now, SSS members may acquire the UMID ATM Pay Card through UnionBank Philippines. This card will serve as an all-in-one identification and debit card, which will be linked to a UnionBank regular savings account with no required maintaining balance.
UMID ATM Pay card holders may perform these transactions and more through UnionBank’s branches, self-service machines, and mobile banking platforms.

Select members who applied for the basic UMID Card, including those whose cards are still pending release, may apply for a free upgrade to a UMID ATM Pay Card. More importantly, member applicants must be officially registered on the SSS website. However, the insurer has yet to confirm if SSS members with existing UMID cards can also apply for the upgrade.
