We just found our latest #TravelGoals: Cat Dixon and Raz Marsden, the Guinness World Record-breaking duo that circumnavigated the globe via tandem bicycle. The pair embarked on their journey from the UK on 29 June 2019, and successfully circled the globe in just 263 days, eight hours, and seven minutes. What a feat!

Two women break the Guinness World Record for circumnavigation by tandem bicycle

Cat, 54, took leave from her career as a lawyer; while Raz, 55, took a break from her job as MND Nurse Consultant. Their route took them across five continents and 25 countries — all in less than a year. “We have highlights from every country that we visited and would definitely return to see many — although maybe at a slower pace,” they said in an interview.

To make things even more memorable for the duo, the last leg of their journey coincided with the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic; this meant being posed with the challenge of making their way back home before countries started going into lockdown.

Fortunately, they made it back to the UK on 18 Mar 2020  — just in the nick of time. To top it all off, not only did the two women claim the female record for circumnavigation by tandem bicycle, they also surpassed the men’s record by a whopping 17 days!
