Our favourite places to stay on this sleepy Cebu island.
It’s never easy to study under the intensity of college life. One deadline after another, sleepless nights writing papers, life-altering exams — the list never ends. Finding the space in-between these responsibilities seems like an unforgiving task, which is why the Zen Garden inside Central Luzon State University (CLSU) feels like a godsend to its student body. Luckily, the agricultural university is more than happy to share this open space with its visitors.

Many courses at CLSU are geared towards the advancement of agriculture, biology, veterinary sciences, and teacher education. The state university, strategically located in Muñoz in Nueva Ecija, enjoys the blessings of its natural resources. These blessings do not come without a cost and the painstaking work to ensure that these resources flourish can be mentally and physically taxing.
The Zen Garden at CLSU is a perfect fit for the vast campus. By its entrance, a big torii gate stands. Beyond that, Japanese rock garden formations and a few flower trees await its guests. A sweeping lakeside view ties this green space altogether. It also lets visitors calm their nerves and take a few peaceful breaths, far away from stress.

The Zen Garden in CLSU isn’t the only tourist spot making the rounds in social media. The campus also has Lingap Kalikasan Park. Also dubbed as Nueva Ecija’s Little Baguio, this humble park is home to more than a few species of trees and birds. Since the trees provide much-needed shade, the area also becomes a reprieve when the days get too hot. Like the Zen Garden, the nature park is popular for its relaxing and stress-free ambience.
