Talaba Station Added to LRT-1 Cavite Extension Plan

If you’ve been waiting for easier travel between Manila and Cavite, here is some good news. A brand new station is being added to the LRT1 Cavite extension, and it is going to be a game changer for commuters in Bacoor.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) recently confirmed that a Talaba station will be built in Barangay Talaba, Bacoor. This is part of the ongoing effort to expand the LRT1 line deeper into Cavite. Once it is completed, it will give locals better access to Metro Manila and open up more travel options for visitors heading south.

What to expect from the Talaba station

Let us be honest. Travelling to and from Cavite can be exhausting, especially during rush hour. Talaba station aims to help solve that. To fund the design and construction of the Talaba station, the DOTr is proposing around ₱3 billion in the 2026 national budget. If approved, it could fast-track the station’s development and help ease the transport struggles of daily commuters.

The road to completion

While Phase 1 of the Cavite extension, covering Redemptorist to Dr Santos, opened in November 2024, the Talaba station is part of the later phases. Phases 2 and 3 are currently projected to be completed between 2030 and 2031.

The LRT1 Cavite extension has not been without its challenges. One major issue has been right of way, meaning delays in acquiring land for the rail line. In Talaba, a flyover along C5 Road and Diego Cera Avenue forced changes to the original layout. A new route was created to solve this, and the project is now moving forward again.

Once completed, the new Talaba station is expected to significantly improve daily commuting in southern Metro Manila and Cavite. It will cut travel times, reduce reliance on cars and buses, and give people a more reliable way to get around.
