Our very own Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has just been named "Airport of the Year in Asia" at the 2025 TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards in Singapore. This prestigious recognition proves that Cebu Airport is now among the fastest, most efficient, and most convenient airports in Asia for connecting flights.

The award reflects the airport’s commitment to passengers. Through the CEBConnects programme, transfers inside the terminal are smoother, more organised, and less stressful. Dedicated transfer lanes and a better passenger flow have cut delays and confusion for travellers.

Cebu Airport is run by the Aboitiz GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation consortium. Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. joined the partnership to help improve passenger experience. Their efforts led to programs like the Silent Airport, which makes the terminal calmer, and Cebu Connect, which makes airport transfers faster and easier.

Thanks to Cebu Connect, domestic to domestic transfers take about thirty five minutes instead of one hour. Transfers involving international flights now take sixty minutes instead of almost ninety. Transfer passenger traffic has grown about forty five percent compared with last year. The airport handles twenty five airlines with almost eighty percent on-time performance, making travel smoother and more reliable.

This award is great news for Filipinos flying between islands or using Cebu as a hub for domestic and regional flights. Faster transfers and a calmer terminal make travelling less stressful and more predictable. Cebu is quickly becoming a key hub for travel in the Philippines and the region.
Cebu Airport’s upgrades did not happen overnight. Earlier this year, it was named one of the Best Airports in Asia Pacific in its passenger category by the Airport Council International. The 2025 Airport of the Year award confirms that Cebu Airport continues to improve while giving passengers a high-quality and efficient travel experience.
