Is it your first time? Here’s why you should attend Color Manila Run Year 8!

Have you attended a fun run before? If you haven’t, then let me tell you about my very first experience. I was incredibly nervous because as a beginner, I was afraid I wouldn’t run as fast as everyone else; it seemed that only fitness enthusiasts and seasoned runners would join these events. And because I joined one by myself, I felt like such an outsider — I was very intimidated when I first arrived!

A fun run for anyone and everyone

Those nervous, intimidated feelings I mentioned? They’re exactly what Color Manila wanted to do away with when they first started. In 2012, Color Manila pioneered the country’s first and biggest colourful fun run. When I first heard of it, I instantly thought of Cebu’s Sinulog festival — people happily running around covered in paint (in the case of Color Manila, it’s colour powder). But that isn’t all there is to Color Manila Run; they also removed the timing aspect in order to encourage everyone to run at their own pace.

Along the route, you’ll pass by several colour stations every now and then; there, runners are showered with colour powder! Once you’ve reached the finish like, you’ll receive your finisher medal and colour packets. But the fun doesn’t end there! Afterwards, you get to head over to the “village”, where you can join in more fun, shower your fellow runners in colour, and dance to music played by some of the metro’s top DJs!
