Cabacongan Cove | Surigao Islands Official Website
Tucked away from the main tourist trail, Cabacongan Cove is a secluded beach ideal for those craving tranquillity. Its powdery sand and crystal-clear waters make it feel like your own private slice of paradise.
The easiest way to reach the Dinagat Islands is via Surigao City. From there, head to the Surigao Port and take a public boat bound for San Jose, the capital town of Dinagat. Travel time is about 1 hour, and boat fare ranges around PHP 200.
Once in San Jose, you can travel between towns via bao-bao tricycles, habal-habal, or chartered boats. RORO barges are also available for private vehicles.
The best time to visit Dinagat is during the dry season from April to September. This is when the seas are calmer, the skies are clearer, and most destinations are easily accessible. Always check the local weather forecast and sea conditions before travelling.
Bring cash. There are very limited ATMs in the province, and digital payments are rarely accepted.
Prepare for a limited signal. Smart or TNT networks offer slightly better coverage, but it can be patchy.
Pack light but smart. Include reef-safe sunscreen, swimwear, and sturdy footwear for hikes and beach walks.
Hire a local guide. Tourism staff or local boatmen can help you navigate the islands efficiently and safely.
Respect local customs. Many residents are members of the PBMA, so be courteous when visiting shrines or public spaces.

Dinagat may not have the big resorts or flashy infrastructure compared to other islands in the Philippines, but that’s exactly its charm. It offers a tranquil escape filled with natural beauty, cultural depth, and slow-paced island life. Whether you're in for the beaches, limestone cliffs, or cultural immersion, the Dinagat Islands prove that some of the best travel experiences come from places that are still a little rough around the edges.
So if you're craving a quiet adventure that reconnects you with nature, put Dinagat on your list. It might just be the soulful escape you’ve been looking for.
