Dolomite Beach Travel Guide 2025: The Controversial Manmade Beach in Manila Bay

If you’ve ever walked along Roxas Boulevard and wondered, “Wait, is that the Dolomite Beach everyone was mad about?” Yes, it is. And no, you still can’t swim there.

But before you scroll past, hear me out. Even if it’s not swimmable yet, the Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach has become one of the city’s go-to spots for sunset views, chill strolls, and weekend unwinding. Plus, the nearby attractions make it worth the trip.

Here’s what’s good around the area:

1. Visit Rizal Park

Right next to the bay is the iconic Luneta, one of Manila’s oldest and most historic parks. You can walk, have a picnic, or just sit and people-watch. The Rizal Monument stands at the centre, marking the exact spot where Jose Rizal was executed. It’s quiet, clean, and a must-visit if you want to reconnect with our country’s story.

Location: Ermita, Manila
Hours: Open daily, 5 AM to 10 AM and 11 AM to 8 PM

2. Explore Manila Ocean Park

A few steps away, you’ll find Manila Ocean Park, basically our own version of an underwater wonderland. Walk through the glass tunnel surrounded by fish, rays, and sharks, or catch the sea lion and dolphin shows. Great for kids and adults alike.

Location: Quirino Grandstand, Ermita, Manila
Hours: Open daily, 10 AM to 6 PM

3. Ride and scream at Star City

Craving a bit of thrill? Star City’s back and better than ever after its 2019 fire. From roller coasters to ferris wheels and spooky rides, this park is pure nostalgia for anyone who grew up in the 2000s.

Location: Roxas Boulevard, CCP Complex, Pasay
Hours: Open Thursday to Sunday, 2 PM to 10 PM

4. Walk around Intramuros

If you’re up for a short ride, Intramuros is the next best stop. The walled city’s cobblestone streets, cathedrals, and museums make it feel like a time machine to the Spanish era. You can rent a bamboo bike, join a walking tour, or just wander until you find your favourite photo spot.

Location: Manila, 1002 Metro Manila
Hours: Usually open 9 AM to 6 PM

5. Drop by Manila Zoo

Recently renovated, the Manila Zoo now features upgraded enclosures and a cleaner layout. You’ll find the Philippine eagle, Palawan bearcat, and other animals living in recreated natural habitats.

Location: Adriatico Street, Malate, Manila
Hours: Open daily, 9 AM to 6 PM

Quick tips before you go

• Visit early or on weekdays to avoid the crowd.
• Bring sun protection and water. The area gets really hot midday.
• Parking is limited. You can park near Robinsons Manila, Luneta, or Ocean Park.
• Kids are allowed, but keep an eye on them, especially near the seawall.

How to get there

From Baclaran, ride a Divisoria jeepney passing through Mabini or Harrison (₱15 fare). Ask to be dropped off at Pedro Gil or Robinsons Manila, then walk or take a ₱20 tricycle to Roxas Boulevard.

Operating hours: Dolomite Beach is open from 6 AM to 6 PM.

You might not get to swim yet, but Dolomite Beach is slowly turning into a decent urban escape for Manila folks who just need fresh air and a good sunset. With landmarks, parks, and cafes nearby, it’s a low-cost mini-break that’s just a jeepney ride away.

So next time you’re in the area, don’t just pass by. Stay for the view, the vibe, and the feeling that maybe, just maybe, Manila Bay’s making a comeback.
