There are many other beautiful places in the Philippines outside its capital, but these 5 destinations will let you enjoy weekend trips with great ease.

Travelling to the Philippines just got easier for Chinese tourists. The country has officially launched its new electronic visa (eVisa) system, and the government is betting it will help boost tourism and make the process smoother for travellers.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that Chinese nationals can now apply for a Philippine visa online, anytime and anywhere, through the new platform developed with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
This move is part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s push to digitise government services and speed up tourism recovery.
Here’s what’s new:
Travellers can now submit visa applications fully online, 24/7.
No more in-person submissions are needed.
Processing time is now faster and simpler.

Under the new system, Chinese nationals can apply for single-entry visas valid for a 14-day stay in the Philippines. The eVisa is currently open to those residing in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, but they must arrive through either Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila or Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
Those who plan to stay longer than 14 days or fly into other airports will still need to apply for a traditional visa through VFS Global centres in major Chinese cities.
The launch happened across eight Chinese cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, Xiamen, Chongqing, and Fuzhou, with embassy and consulate officials leading the ceremonies.

Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime FlorCruz said the project shows how digital transformation can support tourism goals. He also mentioned China’s recognition of the Philippines as a top destination after receiving the “Island Charm Award” at the 2025 Beijing International Diving & Resort Travel Expo, a nod to the country’s famous dive spots and marine beauty.
The eVisa portal is now live at www.vfsglobal.com.
Chinese travellers are among the Philippines’ biggest tourist markets. With an easier visa system in place, the country could soon see more visitors filling up our beaches, hotels, and local businesses, a big win for tourism and local livelihoods.
The launch of the Philippine eVisa for Chinese travellers marks a major step in boosting tourism and digital efficiency. Filipinos can expect more Chinese visitors exploring local destinations soon, helping strengthen the country’s travel economy.
