On 20 Nov 2020, Megaworld Cinemas posted a teaser on their Facebook page, announcing that they will be “bringing the first and only float-in cinema in the Philippines this December.”

Providing the most authentic float-in cinema experience, Megaworld Cinemas will be launching its theatre at Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hill, Taguig City.

Cinemas in the new normal

Because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, most movie theatres have been forced to stop operations. Thankfully, several establishments found a way to adapt to social distancing protocols.

So far, we’ve seen two drive-in cinemas open during the quarantine: One at SM City Pampanga, and another one at SM City Mall of Asia. Both cinemas follow strict COVID-19 protocols for viewers.
