Globe’s GPlan Comes With FREE GCash of Up to ₱22,800

Now that most of us work from home, an expensive postpaid plan isn’t all that worth it. If you splurged on a plan with the best data allowance and unlimited calls and texts to all networks, you may now find that you can better spend that money elsewhere. Globe, in particular, has made downgrading one’s postpaid plan much more attractive with their current GPlan offers.

Browse through their website, and you’ll see that they offer four different types of GPlans: GPlan with GCash, GPlan with device, GPlan sim-only, and GPlan sim-only all-data. We zero in on the first two, which start at just ₱599 a month.

Free GCash or free device: Which GPlan is the best one for you?

All plans range from ₱599 to ₱2,499 a month, with the following inclusions:

  • Free 3GB GoWiFi
  • Free subscription to KonsultaMD
  • Free 3-month GInsure Coverage with one-month premium from Singlife

With the exception of the GPlan sim-only with data, all plans also come with unlimited calls and texts to all mobile networks, as well as unlimited calls to all landline networks.

GPlan with GCash

Contract period: 24 months

Here’s what you get with this plan, in addition to the above-mentioned inclusions:

    • GPlan 599 — 2GB data, ₱4,200 GCash
    • GPlan 999 — 5GB data, ₱8,200 GCash
    • GPlan 1,499 — 10GB data, ₱13,600 GCash
    • GPlan 1,799 — 13GB data, ₱16,800 GCash
    • GPlan 1,999 — 15GB data, ₱18,000 GCash
    • GPlan 2,499 — 25GB data, ₱22,800 GCash

To avail of this plan via the GlobeOne app, don’t forget to link it up to your GCash account. Take note that the GCash credit will only be a one-time, rather than monthly, offer. The amount will be credited to your account once your new plan takes effect.

GPlan with device

Contract period: 12, 24, or 36 months depending on device

These plans are essentially the same as the GPlan with GCash. But instead of free GCash, you can either get a free or discounted device. The devices on offer include smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, and even indoor cycling bikes.

Are these deals worth it?

There have long been debates over whether postpaid plans are worth it at all. A large number of Pinoys find that prepaid promos give you way more bang for your buck; prepaid load is sold at discount rates on online platforms and expires after a full year, while some networks even sell no-expiry data.

However, if you’ve been paying astronomical amounts for data that is hardly being used, then Globe’s GPlan offers are certainly worth it — especially now that they come with unlimited texts and calls to all mobile and landline networks. For reference, many of us would pay thousands of pesos just for unlimited same-network texts and calls, but no data. Free texts and calls to other networks and landlines were limited, and we’d often get charged on top of our monthly bills.

The verdict

Globe’s GPlan with GCash may lock you in for two years, but you get at least seven months’ worth of cash in return. When you avail of the pricier plans, the GCash credit you receive is up to nine times the amount of your monthly bill. Still sulit, if you ask us!

Meanwhile, determining whether Globe’s GPlan with device requires some math on your part, dependson your preferred device. Do your research and see whether the discounted cash-out is significantly more affordable than the device’s actual price. If not, you may be able to save more money by opting for an alternative offer.

Other GPlan offers

No need for freebies? Then the GPlan sim-only offer may be more to your liking. With this plan, you’ll get to enjoy a shorter lock-up period (six months) and bigger data allocation. As for the latter, you’ll have two times that of the GPlan with GCash and GPlan with device options.

Otherwise, if you’re only after mobile data allowance, there’s also the GPlan sim-only all data. For this offer, data allocation ranges from 10GB for ₱599 to 80GB for ₱2,499.

These offers, which were initially available only until 30 Jun 2021, have been extended with no end date given. For more information about Globe’s GPlans, click here.
