By now, it seems like everyone has Batanes on their bucket list. But, did you know that Mindanao also has its very own land of rolling hills? Underrated, as most Mindanaoan gems are, the looks breathtaking with its endless greens.

Named after a palm plantation, the La Palmera Mountain Ridge lies in the landlocked town of Columbio in Sultan Kudarat. To get there, you can ride a habal-habal from Marbel 1 Elementary School (₱150) from Koronadal City. The ride will take about an hour and a half from Koronadal to Poblacion, Columbio.
From Poblacion, you will have to pass through eight kilometres of palm plantations and a river to finally arrive at the La Palmera Mountain Ridge. Thus, the traveller’s philosophy: The journey may be long, but it’s all worth it.
To preserve its serenity, the local government regulates visitors. Upon entry, tourists must pay a ₱50 environmental fee.
Aside from the , many other hidden gems are tucked in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat. One of its most prized treasures is the Fetam Klego, a serene underground river in Barangay Sinapulan that poses grand waterfalls and majestic views. More natural wonders dot Columbio, like the Tabong Falls in Barangay Upper Lomoyon and the Bansiung Falls in Barangays Telafas and Datablao.
