Named after a palm plantation, the La Palmera Mountain Ridge lies in the landlocked town of Columbio in Sultan Kudarat. To get there, ride a habal-habal (₱150) from Marbel 1 Elementary School in Koronadal City.
From Poblacion, you will have to pass through eight kilometres of palm plantations and a river to finally arrive at the La Palmera Mountain Ridge. Thus, the traveller’s philosophy: The journey may be long, but it’s all worth it.
To preserve its serenity, the local government regulates visitors. Upon entry, tourists must pay a ₱50 environmental fee.
Aside from La Palmera, many other hidden gems are tucked in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat. One of its most prized treasures is the Fetam Klego, a serene underground river in Barangay Sinapulan that poses grand waterfalls and majestic views. More natural wonders dot Columbio, like the Tabong Falls in Barangay Upper Lomoyon and the Bansiung Falls in Barangays Telafas and Datablao.
