12 Long Weekends in the Philippines in 2021 + Calendar and Cheat Sheet!

UPDATE AS OF 5 MAR 2021: The Malacañang Palace has earlier announced the lessening of non-working holidays in the Philippines in 2021. Under Proclamation No. 1107, November 2 (All Souls’ Day), December 24 (Christmas Eve), and December 31 (New Year’s Eve) will all be special working holidays. This proclamation leaves us with just 12 possible long weekends this year.

Although we’ve had to put our latest travel plans on hold, we’re still positive that the Philippines will be a better place for local tourism soon! We have 10 regular holidays and six special non-working holidays for 2021. On top of the 12 regular holidays, President Rodrigo Duterte proclaimed six special non-working holidays to boost local tourism. 

Meanwhile, we’re still awaiting the official dates of Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha: These Islamic holidays shift dates according to the yearly lunar calendar. Keep this article bookmarked — we promise to update it as soon as the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) declares the official dates for these holidays!

Make it 12 long weekends in 2021 by taking seven leave days

Unlike with 2020, the Philippine holidays in 2021 are a bit trickier to deal with. Evidently, there are holidays sandwiched between working days. But with the right planning, you can definitely make the most of these 21 days of vacation! 

If you take seven leave days, you can actually score 12 long weekends in the Philippines in 2021! Here’s our little cheat sheet for vacation leaves next year:

This year may not be rolling as planned, but at least we have more years to look forward to. In fact, we’ll be ending 2020 with a blast — a 4-day holiday up to the New Year! Maybe then, we’ll be able to enjoy a home away from home. (Is anyone thinking of a year-end staycation, too?)
