National Day of Protest Traffic Advisory

Today, 21 September 2017, the entire Philippines observes the National Day of Protest, as declared by President Rodrigo Duterte in a Memorandum Circular No. 26.

Due to the expected public demonstrations and rallies, work in the government offices and classes in public schools are suspended. As for the private sector, the decision is under the sole discretion of the companies.

To those who are still going to work and school today, especially in the affected areas in Manila, here’s a Traffic Advisory from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Affected areas and alternate routes

I. US Embassy: Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to P. Gil, Malate, Manila

  1. All vehicles coming from Bonifacio Drive intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd. shall turn left to P. Burgos Ave. to point of destination.
  2. All vehicles coming from three (3) bridges (Jones, McArthur, Quezon) intending to proceed to the south of Manila shall take Taft Avenue to their point of destination.
  3. All vehicles travelling westbound lane of P. Burgos Ave., shall turn right to Bonifacio Drive or make a U-turn to the eastbound lane of P. Burgos Ave., to point of destination.
  4. All vehicles travelling westbound lane of TM Kalaw St., going to Roxas Blvd south bound, shall turn left to MH del Pilar St., to point of destination.
  5. All vehicles travelling westbound lane of U.N. Ave., going to Roxas Blvd., shall turn left to MH del Pilar St., or utilize Roxas Blvd. service road to point of destination.
  6. All vehicles utilizing northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard shall turn right to Pres. Quirino Ave or turn right to P. Gil St. to point of destination.

II. Mendiola Freedom Arch: Chino Roces Bridge, Mendiola, Manila

  1. All vehicles coming from Legarda northbound shall turn right to Bustillos Street to point of destination.
  2. All vehicles coming from Legarda southbound shall turn left to Concepcion Aguila Street to point of destination.
  3. All vehicles coming from CM recto eastbound shall turn left to Morayta Street (N. Reyes St.) to point of destination.
  4. III. Plaza Miranda: Southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard
  5. All vehicles intending to utilize southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard coming from A. Mendoza Street shall turn right to Fugoso Street, to point of destination.
  6. All vehicles intending to utilize southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard coming from Espana Blvd. shall turn right to P. Campa Street, to point of destination.
  7. All vehicles intending to utilize southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard coming from service road of CM Recto Avenue eastbound, shall go straight and turn left to Morayta Street (N. Reyes St.) to point of destination.

IV. España Boulevard: near University of Santo Tomas

  1. All vehicles intending to utilize the westbound lane of España Blvd. coming from AH Lacson Avenue shall go straight to Nagtahan to point of destination.
  2. All vehicles travelling east of España Blvd. intending to proceed to Quezon Boulevard shall turn right to AH Lacson Avenue, go straight to Rizal Avenue to point of destination.
  3. All vehicles travelling eastbound of España Boulevard shall turn right to P Noval Street and turn left to SH Loyola Street to point of destination.
