The future of transportation has arrived in the Philippines, and it’s happening right in the heart of New Clark City, Clark Freeport Zone, and Clark International Airport. Thanks to a pioneering partnership between the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Zenmov, Inc. (a Japan-based mobility firm), and MC Metro Transport Operation, Inc., the Philippines’ first self-driving bus service is now operational — and for a limited time, you can ride it for free.

This cutting-edge service is part of the BCDA's ongoing efforts to position New Clark City as the Philippines' first sustainable city. The goal is to provide a more efficient, eco-friendly mode of transportation that reduces traffic congestion while promoting a low-carbon, green environment.
Smart Technology in Action
The autonomous buses rely on a Smart Mobility Operation Cloud (SMOC) system, which ensures operational efficiency and minimises the number of vehicles on the road. This high-tech system helps keep the buses running smoothly, with real-time data collection and dissemination that promises a safer, more reliable commute for passengers.
“This technology is transformative for daily life in Clark,” said Gisela Kalalo, Executive Vice President and COO of BCDA. “It’s not just about convenience; it’s about reducing traffic and helping the environment.”
Free Rides for a Limited Time
For now, the autonomous bus service is completely free, offering a unique chance for residents, workers, and visitors in Clark to experience this futuristic mode of travel without spending a dime. The buses operate on select routes within New Clark City, the Clark Freeport Zone, and the Clark Civil Aviation Complex, serving as a convenient "last mile" service for commuters.
The autonomous buses are only the beginning. The BCDA and its partners are committed to a long-term vision of smart, sustainable transportation for New Clark City. Alongside the buses, they plan to deploy bikes, install smart poles, and use drones and charging stations to further enhance traffic management and sustainability efforts.
