The Philippines Reopens to International Travellers by 10 Feb 2022

After closing its borders for almost two years, the Philippines reopens to foreign travellers starting 10 Feb 2022. The country’s reopening was initially slated to take place on 1 Dec 2021. Upon officially reopening, the Philippines will welcome international travellers for both tourism and business purposes.

Who can enter the Philippines?

With the exception of minors, all foreign visitors who wish to travel to the Philippines must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. While the IATF has suspended the use of green, yellow, and red list classifications, those unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated may not enter the country.

Philippines reopens: Requirements for foreign travellers

Those who wish to enter must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid visa (if not from a non-visa required country of origin)
  • Passport with at least six months’ validity
  • Return ticket to their country of origin or an outbound ticket to their next country of destination
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (WHO international certificate of vaccination and prophylaxis; VaxCertPH; or a national digital certificate of their country of origin’s government which accepts VaxCertPH as proof of vaccination)
  • Negative RT-PCR test result taken 48 hours before departure

From 10 Feb, the Philippine government will no longer require facility quarantine for those entering the country. Instead, they will only ask for proof of vaccination and a negative RT-PCR test result. Travellers are instead asked to self-monitor for symptoms for seven days.
