5 Rage Rooms in the Philippines to Relieve Stress

Tropical heat and stress can be deadly for tempers to flare up. It can get the best of us, which is true even on our best days. We are only human, after all, and sometimes, the only way to vent could be by SMASHING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT. (Apologies for the outburst.) But, you can be free of judgment while breaking things out of anger. Just head over to these rage rooms in the Philippines and unleash your wrath —- over inanimate objects, of course.

Rage rooms when you’re enraged in Manila

1. The Rage Room

Containing an angry visitor’s wrath is the name of The Rage Room’s game. Also functioning as a coffee shop in Parañaque, this is just the place for caffeine dependents with ill intent to control their hyperactivity. Yes, they welcome raw energy inside their rage room.

Its walls, spray painted with curses, will absorb all your rage — may it be profanities or heavy glass bottles being hurled at deadly speeds. The Rage Room makes certain that the burdens that frustrations bring aren’t as heavy as it seems.

Address: 12 President’s Ave, Parañaque, 1700 Metro Manila

Opening hours: 1pm–10pm

2. RageRoom

RageRoom shares the same name and vision as the first entry but for north of Metro Manila. RageRoom recently opened in Quezon City, arming visitors with blunt weapons: lead pipes and wooden bats

Smash away. But a word of caution: Watch out for flying debris from all the objects. To protect its visitors, the RageRoom provides tracksuits upon entry.

Address: 2F 233-F Sta. Catalina Street, La Loma, Quezon City

Opening hours: 10am–4.45pm

Barrio Rage Room recently opened in Isabela, welcoming stressed and enraged residents to unleash their violent anger in safety. There are a variety of breakables in this rage room, from ceramics to broken TVs, along with a considerable arsenal of weapons. Didn’t close that important deal? Tee off with a golf club and break everything inside Barrio Rage Room! Show no mercy!

Address: Namnama, Mallig, 3323 Isabela

Opening hours: 9am-6pm

4. Superslam Rageroom

Perhaps the earliest prototype of rage rooms in the Philippines were the taksyapo walls. The word is an old Kapampangan expression that loosely means “pissed.”

Words sprawled across a large wall become targets for highly breakable ceramics or glass bottles. Frustrated over a cheating partner? Imagine that label being the real thing and hurl with a plate accordingly!

Superslam Rageroom in Pampanga draws that same inspiration but at a visceral range and a creative scale. Once armed with Superslam’s weapons, ragers can exercise their vulgar display of power over… strong crates and LCD screens. The inanimate objects represent all the regrets and frustrations brought inside Superslam. Grind them into fine powder with a baseball bat for a cathartic release.

Address: 2F Reds Commercial Bldg. Telabastagan, San Fernando, Philippines

Operating hours: 11pm7pm

5. Adventure Cafe

Adventure Cafe in Balamban, Cebu City doesn’t advertise itself as a rage room. In fact, visitors see it as a retreat. The cafe sits at an elevation, surrounded by mountain trees like pine. A sprawling mountain view awaits in the cafe. So doesn’t it seem ironic that in the middle of panoramic views and lush greenery is a taksyapo wall filled with antagonising language?

The rather interesting juxtaposition of the wall amplifies the sound of shattering ceramics. It echoes through the open mountain space. It can be distressing to hear, but to a person seeing red, it is a heavenly tune!

There’s also a handful of extreme activities at Adventure Cafe, including ziplines and rock climbing. Screaming in ziplines can be a cathartic experience. Consider this as an alternative to raging.
