Our favourite places to stay on this sleepy Cebu island.
I remember planning my first-ever trip to Siargao. One of the first things on my itinerary was a stop at the ever so Instagrammable Shaka Cafe in Cloud 9, famous for their colourful smoothie bowls. (And yes, the refreshing fruit bowls definitely lived up to our expectations!) Fast forward a few years later, the rustic cafe has opened a number of branches around the country — and as of June 2021, Shaka Cafe has finally touched down in Manila.

Much to the delight of the metro’s Shaka fans, the cafe’s newest branch opened in Burgos Circle, BGC on 7 Jun 2021. City dwellers can now enjoy their best-selling smoothie bowls and plant-based cuisine without the need to travel far! From all-day breakfast to coffee and cocktails, Shaka is easily BGC’s latest must-visit cafe — they’re open daily, from 8am to 8pm.
Besides their fresh fruit desserts, be sure to try out their mouth-watering mains and burgers! Standout menu items include their pad thai, vege tacos, and their Sloppy Jose — a 100% vegan burger that just might convert you if you haven’t switched to this lifestyle yet! Plus, true to their promise to offer plant-based alternatives, all their coffees are made with oat milk.
What’s more, Shaka has also made their menu available for online ordering. Head to their official platform to place your orders for pickup. Shaka will soon be launching an in-house delivery service for BGC residents, too!
