This Christmas, give your loved ones these Filipino-made gift items.

Aside from perfect cone-shaped mountains, Japan and the Philippines have one other thing in common — a love for cold desserts. Mountains of refreshing shaved or crushed ice, in fact. If that tempts you in any way, you have a reason to celebrate as Shari Shari Kakigori House brings you shaved ice in Manila!
Famous for their Japanese-inspired shaved ice desserts, Shari Shari Kakigori House officially opened its first Philippine store in Serendra, Bonifacio Global City on 28 Jun 2019. On top of bestselling shaved ice in Hong Kong, Shari Shari Philippines is proud to introduce its own localised twist by serving Cantaloupe Melon or Melon Kakigori. A dessert lover myself, I was ecstatic to try it and the rest of their bestsellers. Here’s why I think it deserves to be in your Metro Manila bucket list!

Did you know? The shaved ice servings in the new Philippine branch are a lot bigger than those offered in its Hong Kong outlets. Lucky for me, I had a new friend to share my FOUR different orders with. So if you’re looking for that perfect shaved ice in Manila to share with your family, colleagues, or barkada, this is definitely the best place to be. What’s more, they offer a dozen shaved ice servings (even limited seasonal ones). Of course, each comes its own flair — a distinct syrup, topping, or powder that you can customise yourself!

An ice shaver all the way from Japan? Check! The machine brand specialises in “marrying art and precision”, resulting in shaved ice that’s both smooth and fluffy (melt-in-your-mouth experience talaga!). My friend, who is a certified matcha fanatic, enjoyed his Matcha Cream Special, whose main ingredient was sourced especially from Japan, too. They also serve the Japanese Tofu Kakigori, another uniquely Japanese concoction which has a Mikan orange topping for a combination of sweet and sour flavours.

What makes Shari Shari Philippines even more exciting is that every one of its servings is guaranteed to be Instagram-worthy! From rich green matcha powders and melon tidbits to the serving glasses and trays — it shows just how much the store values presentation, along with taste. Moreover, Shari Shari Philippines proves that it can be enjoyed not just by adults, but by kids as well. They have a cookies-and-cream-based flavour called Black and White Angel Kakigori, as well as fruit flavours like mango and banana!
