Having karaoke competitions on the fly with your friends is now possible with the new Spotify karaoke feature.
Sing anywhere with the Spotify karaoke feature
While the music app hasn’t formally announced its development, social media users tell of the hidden feature found in the lyrics section on every track. Wondering how to access the feature? Users would need to update their Spotify app first. Once the app updates, a “Sing” button with a mic icon should appear on the lyrics display. Remember, if your auto-update somehow didn’t run for you, you can always check out the Play Store or App Store if an update is available.
The feature lets you mute the original vocals of the track and leaves the backing track for users to sing along to. While the criteria for scoring isn’t clear, Spotify will show a percentile score depending on how well it thinks you sang along. Once the feature fully rolls out, we can only expect karaoke scores all over your social media feeds!
Waiting for the Spotify karaoke feature
Unfortunately, the Spotify karaoke feature is not yet available for all users. While this is common for app developers who wish to test out new features, the update trended all over social media platforms. Users on Tiktok and Twitter posted the feature on their feeds showing off their singing along with the scores they’ve acquired.

The music app developer still hasn’t announced anything regarding the trend. While we can only assume that the feature will come to our music apps soon, it is bound to be a hit. Pretty soon, you can sing karaoke, whether for practising alone or for some friendly competition with a group of friends, anywhere, at any time! You can even sing while travelling!
