Thailand is preparing to make travel more exciting this year. The country’s Tourism and Sports Ministry has proposed a programme that could provide up to 200,000 free domestic flights for international visitors in 2025. For Filipino travellers, this could mean exploring more than just Bangkok without adding to the cost of airfare.

The initiative, called Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights, is designed to encourage more tourists to visit the country. Travellers who arrive in Thailand on an international flight may be eligible for a complimentary domestic flight to another destination. Imagine landing in Bangkok and then flying to Chiang Mai, Phuket, or Krabi at no extra cost.
Reports suggest that the government has set aside a budget of THB 700 million for the programme. The campaign is expected to run between August and December 2025, with travel dates likely falling between September and November. Several airlines are lined up to participate, including Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air, Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, and Thai VietJet. The package may also include a checked baggage allowance of up to 20 kilograms, which is perfect for those who like to shop or bring home plenty of pasalubong.
The proposal still needs cabinet approval, so it is not final just yet. The exact rules, such as how to claim tickets, which routes will be available, and the booking process, are still being discussed. Early details also suggest that only those arriving by international flight will be able to join, so travelling by land or sea may not qualify.

Although the programme is not confirmed yet, it has the potential to make Thailand even more attractive to Filipino travellers in 2025. If approved, this could be the perfect chance to visit more than one Thai city on a single trip while keeping expenses low. Watch out for official announcements from Thailand’s tourism authorities before making any bookings. Your next holiday in the Land of Smiles might just include a free flight to your dream destination.
