Travellers heading to Cavitex today should be prepared for a temporary traffic adjustment as CAVITEX is set to conduct a dry run of a new traffic scheme on Thursday, 29 Aug 2024, from 8:00am to 8:00pm. This trial is a crucial step in smoothing the transition to the upcoming construction of the CAVITEX-CALAX link, an infrastructure project designed to enhance connectivity and ease congestion in the region.

The dry run will focus on the Centennial Road and Zeus Intersection, areas that will experience significant changes in traffic patterns during the construction period. The primary goal of this trial is to identify potential issues and fine-tune the traffic management plan, ensuring minimal disruptions for motorists when the actual construction begins.
Motorists should be aware that there will be several lane closures during the dry run, which could impact travel times. A one-lane closure will be implemented on both ends of Centennial Road, particularly from Alessandra Building to Power Megamix Batching Inc. Additionally, a two-lane closure will affect the Cavite-bound side, with counterflow on the Manila-bound side, from Covelandia (before the CAVITEX entry) to Zeus Intersection.
To help manage the traffic flow, alternative routes have been suggested. Class 1 vehicles are advised to take Tirona Highway or Medicion II Street, while Class 2 and 3 vehicles should remain on Centennial Road, which is better equipped to handle larger vehicles. For those taking the suggested detours, two main options are available:
Via Tirona Highway (Northbound and Southbound): Motorists should turn left onto Pag-asa Road, continue to Gahak Road, make a right turn at Daang Bakal St., then turn left onto Villa Ramirez Road and merge onto Centennial Road.
Via Medicion to Carsadang Bago (Northbound and Southbound): Motorists should turn left onto Medicion II St., then left onto Carsadang Bago, and merge onto Centennial Road.
The CAVITEX-CALAX link is a major infrastructure project featuring a 1.3-kilometer, 4-lane expressway. Once completed, it will connect the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX) with the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), improving transportation between Kawit and the broader CALABARZON area.
Construction of the CAVITEX-CALAX link began earlier this year and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025. The project aims to ease traffic congestion on Centennial Road, particularly from Gahak to Tirona Highway, and improve traffic flow at the Centennial Road-Tirona Highway-Cavitex junction.
