Planning a trip to Japan and hoping to stretch your travel budget? Good news for Filipino travellers, Japan Airlines (JAL) announced last year a special offer that gives free domestic flights in Japan to international visitors, including those from the Philippines.
This exciting initiative is part of a wider tourism campaign in Japan to encourage travellers to explore beyond the usual cities like Tokyo and Osaka.

This Japan Airlines promo has been available to Filipino travellers since September 25, 2024, and there’s currently no end date announced. To qualify, you need to be flying round-trip internationally with JAL and book through the official Japan Airlines website.
The key requirement? You must book your international and domestic flights together in a single transaction. If you book them separately, you won’t be eligible for the free domestic flight. So if you're flying from Manila to Tokyo and want to visit Sapporo, Kyoto, Fukuoka, Nagoya, or Okinawa, make sure to include that extra leg when you book your ticket.
It’s simple, but timing is everything. Once you land in Japan (usually in Tokyo Narita/Haneda or Osaka Kansai International), you can connect to a domestic flight at no extra cost. You have two options: connect immediately (within 24 hours) or stopover in your arrival city and continue your journey later.
However, if your stopover exceeds 24 hours, you might be charged a stopover fee. This is usually ¥300 (₱115 to ₱120), depending on your departure country. For Filipino travellers, it’s best to check the latest guidelines directly on the JAL website before finalising your itinerary.

Thanks to JAL’s wide domestic network, there are plenty of exciting destinations to choose from. Here are a few you might want to add to your list:
Sapporo – Enjoy snow festivals, hot springs, and legendary ramen
Kyoto – Step into history with temples, shrines, and traditional tea houses
Fukuoka – A food-lover's paradise by the sea
Nagoya – A hub for history, technology, and castles
Okinawa – Relax on white sand beaches in this tropical island prefecture
With your domestic flight already covered, you can allocate more of your budget to food trips, cultural experiences, or a relaxing stay in a traditional ryokan.

Don’t forget that Filipino citizens still need a Japanese visa to travel. The two most common options are:
A single-entry visa, which allows you to enter Japan once and stay up to 90 days
A multiple-entry visa, which lets you travel to Japan several times over a specified period, with each stay lasting 15 to 30 days
To apply, go through a Japan-accredited travel agency and prepare the required documents, typically a passport, a filled-out application form, proof of financial capacity, and your travel itinerary.

This Japan Airlines free domestic flight deal is a fantastic opportunity for Filipino travellers to explore more of Japan in one trip. By booking your JAL international and domestic flights together, you can save money and visit destinations that might not usually fit into your itinerary.
Whether it’s your first Sakura season adventure or a return to discover hidden gems, this offer makes travelling across Japan more affordable.
