Our favourite places to stay on this sleepy Cebu island.

You’re reading this because you’re probably thinking of escaping the city for a weekend and I’ve got a place to recommend in Baguio. Honestly, it’s hard to explain pero sobrang nakakarelax talaga. I spent my weekend there, and it’s that kind of trip where everything slows down, you can just chill, enjoy the cool weather, good food, and the overall “slow living” vibe. Some things can be a bit pricey but whatever you spent here is totally worth it.

Stop by Valley of Colours along Halsema Highway in La Trinidad. This vibrant hillside is famous for its colourful displays and is one of the most photogenic spots near Baguio. Beyond the photos, it’s a great place to feel the fresh mountain air, take a short nature walk, and appreciate how peaceful the surroundings are compared to the city. Whether you want to relax on a bench or explore the little trails, the scenic views alone make the visit worthwhile.
Tip: Go early to avoid clouds or fog and bring a jacket as it can get chilly. Wear sturdy shoes if you want to explore the hill paths and bring some local snacks to enjoy while soaking in the scenery.

Head to Session Road, the heart of Baguio. This street is lined with cafés, restaurants, thrift shops, and souvenir stores, making it perfect for wandering without a strict plan. It’s a spot where you can feel the energy of the city, discover hidden gems, and experience the mix of local life and tourism. Street performers and weekend events often make it lively, so there’s always something new to see.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and carry a reusable water bottle. Take detours to nearby streets for unique local finds and don't hesitate to chat with friendly shop owners about local products.

Recharge at Pizza Volante, a long-time favourite in Baguio known for pizza, pasta, and all-day breakfast. The portions are generous, the flavours satisfying, and the cozy interior makes it perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. It’s also a great stop after walking around Session Road, giving you a proper refuel before heading to your next destination.
Tip: Try their signature pizza or pasta combo for the best value. Arrive early on weekends to secure a table and remember to bring cash as it can get busy.

You can’t miss Mines View Park, one of Baguio’s most iconic tourist spots. The panoramic views of the mountains and valleys are breathtaking, and the park itself is full of little shops selling local crafts, snacks, and traditional clothing. It’s a great place to capture photos, try local treats, and get souvenirs without having to go far.
Tip: Go early to avoid crowds and strong winds. Bring a jacket and compare prices if buying pasalubong. Don’t miss local favourites like strawberry taho or peanut brittle.

Take a break at Foam Coffee on Shuntug Road. This café is perfect for slowing down after a day of exploring. With its cosy ambiance, specialty coffee, pastries, and light meals, it’s an ideal spot to catch up with friends, work on a laptop, or just enjoy some quiet time.
Tip: Grab a window seat for the best views and Instagram-worthy shots. Seasonal drinks and specialty blends are worth trying to make your visit memorable.

For accommodation, check in at Citylight Hotel on Gen. Luna Road. Staying centrally allows you to walk to most attractions, saving both time and transport costs. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, modern amenities, and a convenient base to plan your Baguio itinerary without the stress of long commutes.
Tip: Book early on weekends to secure a room with a view of the city or mountains for the full Baguio experience.

Escape to Camp John Hay for a more relaxed vibe. Surrounded by pine trees and open spaces, it’s perfect for walking, biking, or a simple picnic. You can enjoy fresh mountain air, explore eco-trails, or just sit back and watch the sunset. It’s a reminder that Baguio isn’t just about crowded spots; nature here is incredibly calming.
Tip: Bring a picnic blanket and some snacks. Take the eco-trail for a short trek with scenic viewpoints and some peace away from city life.

Wrap up your trip with a visit to Baguio Botanical Garden, a serene mix of themed gardens, sculptures, and cultural exhibits. It’s ideal for a slow walk, casual photography, and learning a bit about Cordillera culture through the traditional huts and displays. This spot perfectly balances relaxation with a little cultural insight.
Tip: Bring insect repellent and visit early for fewer crowds. Don’t miss the traditional huts that showcase Cordillera culture, adding depth to your weekend escape.

Some spots can be pricey, but the weather, food, views, and relaxed vibe make a weekend in Baguio truly special. Travel smart, enjoy each moment, and focus on experiences that make you happy. Baguio isn’t just about where you go, it’s about how the whole trip makes you feel.
