Cheers to a whopping number of 20 holidays and 13 long weekends in the Philippines! Filipinos have all reasons to rejoice this 2015 as well! Feeling the vacation vibe? Plan your getaways now!

You might be double-checking your itinerary or preparing for a long-awaited trip, only to find a notification that your flight has been cancelled. Cebu Pacific has just announced a massive wave of international flight cancellations and schedule reductions for April to October 2026. Citing the global fuel crisis and the ongoing Middle East conflict, the airline is cutting back on several key routes, leaving thousands of travellers—from families on holiday to business professionals—scrambling for a "Plan B."

When your flight is cancelled, the stress is immediate. Whether you're worried about missing a non-refundable hotel booking or being late for an important meeting, the uncertainty is exhausting. While Cebu Pacific offers rebooking or travel funds, these often don't help if you have a fixed schedule. Fortunately, there are ways to get your cash back and secure a new seat without draining your savings.

Book with Scoot or Jetstar Asia from Singapore for direct flights to Manila, which currently cost between PHP 5,000 and PHP 9,500.
Switch to AirAsia if you are in Kuala Lumpur, where nonstop seats to Manila are currently priced from PHP 4,500 to PHP 9,300.
Use Scoot for direct flights to Cebu from Singapore starting at PHP 5,200 to avoid the congestion and extra costs of a Manila layover.
Request a full cash refund instead of a travel fund if your flight was cancelled by the airline, as this allows you to use the money to book a "Plan B" ticket immediately.

Secure a seat on Scoot or Jetstar Asia to get back to Singapore on time, with one-way fares ranging from PHP 5,000 to PHP 9,000.
Choose AirAsia or Philippines AirAsia for your return to Kuala Lumpur to find the most frequent flight slots starting at PHP 4,400.
Execute a "Manila Pivot" if your direct provincial flight (like Iloilo to Singapore) was suspended by booking a domestic flight to Manila first, then a separate budget carrier to your destination for roughly PHP 7,500 to PHP 12,000.
Check for terminal fee and tax refunds if you have unused flights to Malaysia or Singapore, as these government taxes can be returned to you even if you do not fly.
For our Overseas Filipino Workers, a cancelled flight is not just a simple delay; it is a serious risk to your employment contract and legal status. To protect yourself, your first step should be to document the disruption immediately by taking a screenshot of the official cancellation notice from the airline. You will need this "proof of disruption" to show your employer or recruitment agency if you end up arriving late for your shift, as it proves the situation was entirely out of your control.
If you find yourself stranded in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur while your visa or work permit is nearing expiration, you must reach out to the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) for urgent guidance. You can contact the Singapore MWO at +65 6737 3977, or the Kuala Lumpur MWO at +603 2161 2222 or their 24/7 hotline at +6017 8837 089. For those still in the Philippines, the DMW and OWWA help desks at NAIA are currently active and providing temporary support, specifically for OFWs affected by these 2026 fuel-crisis cancellations.

If your flight was cancelled by Cebu Pacific, you are eligible for a refund in your original form of payment. This is helpful if you need cash to book with a different airline right away.
Request a refund through the app or website by connecting with a Live Agent to ensure your request is processed as a cash refund rather than a travel voucher.
Wait for the 15-day processing window for the airline to handle your request, though it may take up to two billing cycles to appear on your card statement.
Follow up using the Guest Feedback Form if it has been more than 15 days, selecting the option to check your refund status.
Recover unused government taxes such as the Terminal Fee or Philippine Travel Tax if you decide not to travel at all.
If you paid for the Philippine Travel Tax (PH Tax) during your booking but can no longer travel due to the cancellation, you are entitled to get that money back.
Request a refund through the Cebu Pacific website or app specifically for the unused Travel Tax.
Note that a processing fee applies when you request a refund for the travel tax, so your final returned amount may be slightly less than what you paid.
Connect with a Live Agent via the chat function if the automated system does not show your tax refund options clearly.
Keep your original booking reference and electronic ticket handy, as these are required to verify that the tax was paid but the flight was not used.
Flight cancellations are a heavy burden, but moving quickly to a "Plan B" airline like AirAsia or Scoot can save your job and your family time. Be sure to keep your airline apps updated to receive real-time alerts on any further schedule changes.
